Saligna

Overview

South African produced Saligna ‘grandis’ timber boards are derived mainly from the Eucalyptus grandis, with smaller volumes from E. Saligna. The local plantations are FSC-certified and managed on a sustainable basis. Saligna timber is yellow, pink, or pale red to brownish in hue; straight-grained and open textured, giving it a smooth finish. The hardwood is moderately durable and fairly resistant to decay and termite attacks. In terms of workability, this versatile general purpose wood is easily ripped, cross-cut and planed with the correct sawblades and equipment. It also makes a good glued joint and takes polish and stain readily.
