Pine timber that is graded as S5 and S7 complies with certain stress grades, which relate to specific load bearing strengths as per the SANS (SABS/SATAS) certification.

Timber graded as ‘Black XXX’ (Black Cross) is generally used for the same applications as industrial and crating, as well as structural. However, this grade does not make the S5 specification or grading.

Meranti is a versatile hardwood with many subspecies, sources and uses. Meranti is the commercial name applied to a large variety of different hardwood species of the genus Shorea, which is produced and exported worldwide mainly from Malaysia.

South African produced Saligna ‘grandis’ timber boards are derived mainly from the Eucalyptus grandis, with smaller volumes from E. Saligna. The local plantations are FSC-certified and managed on a sustainable basis.

Hardwood is most commonly used for flooring, but can also be used for cladding, panelling, construction, fencing, boats, outdoor decks, and the manufacturing of high-quality furniture.
